1) What is a website and what do I need to run one?
A website is a collection of web pages hosted on a server and with a unique internet address (domain name). In other words, you need 3 components to have a website: 1. domain name e.g. www.yourname.com, 2. Web Hosting, and 3. web pages or content management system (allows you to type in and publish your materials easily online). Depending on your needs, a website can be simple or complicated to run.
If you want to provide information, writing articles and the like, what you need would be something as simple to run as a WordPress blog. Running a website powered by WordPress is as easy as sending emails. All you need to do is type in your content, edit or modify text, and click the "Publish" button to post your article. You can upload images, files, and audios, and even edit your articles with the click of a few buttons. The interface looks much like what you are used to with Microsoft Word on your PC.
On the other hand, if you need a comprehensive business website with many advanced features, you may need the help of a qualified webmaster to run your website.
2) Do I really need a website or a blog?
Yes; you do. If you own or run a business, a website can help you increase your reach, deliver information and services faster, and reduce operational costs.
If you are not an entrepreneur - perhaps just an employee - you can develop yourself into an authority in your field by sharing your knowledge and ideas, and showcasing your talent with a blog.
3) How can I promote my website?
Give out your website address to colleagues and friends. Print it out on your call card and your stationery or brochure. You may also advertise on high traffic websites, and submit your website URL to search engines like Google and Yahoo to ensure that your website can be found on the internet.
4) How long does it take to set up a blog?
About 5 minutes after your hosting account is set up. After that, you can start writing and publishing your articles.
5) I want to purchase only domain name from you and host elsewhere. Can I do this?
Yes; we have many customers who do that. Simply order the domain name you want and signify the nameservers of the webhost you want to use. Please note that domain name fees are annual
6) I want to purchase only webhosting from you. I will get my domain name from elsewhere.
No problem here either. We only require that you make sure that you have registered the domain name before placing your order for web hosting with us.
7) Can I transfer my domain name or hosting to you, and vice versa?
Yes; you can move your domain name and hosting from other service providers to us, and you can also move them away at anytime you choose.
8) The idea of a mobile office is intriguing. I spend a lot of time on the move and need to in touch via email and the web. Can I really do that?
Yes; many people have been doing that for years here in Nigeria. What you need is a smartphone/laptop with a mobile internet subscription.
9) Our business has a website, but so far we have not seen how this has aided what we do. Can you help?

11) In developing a website for me, will you make changes until I am satisfied?
Customer satisfaction is our top priority. The more detailed your requirements are, the easier will it be for us to design your site better, co-ordinate and save time. We would make a few changes during the course of designing. However, we would limit ourselves to a couple of minor changes only upon completion of the project; any major changes would incur additional costs.
Examples: Changing font size, color are minor changes. Adding new pages/templates or new logos/images, changing layout are major changes. Please make sure you clarify your requirements beforehand to avoid any confusions.
12) In developing a website for me, can I be refunded with my money if I am not fully satisfied?
No. You choose our services at your own accord. If you would like to discontinue our service in the middle of a project, you could do so, however there would be no returns on the amount already received. We hope you understand the value of the time and effort that goes into the service we provide.
13) What modes of payment do you accept?
Bank deposit only. All payments are to me made in cash, cheque or online transfer to our bank account. Under no circumstances do we accept cash. This is to limit possibilities of unauthorised persons receiving funds from unsuspecting customers. Your bank deposit slip or bank records (in case of online transfer) are proof that any funds paid are to DomainStandard Networks.
